Issue 21: Two not-so-Chinese Tigers

Last year, while searching for Chinese children’s songs on the site www.mamalisa.com, I came across this “traditional chinese playground song”

If you follow the link, you will find yourself listening to a song about two tigers, one with only one ear, and another with no tail, running very fast – how strange. (The “how strange” is the last line of the song). All to the tune of Frere Jacques! How did a French tune become a traditional Chinese playground song?
